I think that Timothy is patient with Philip because he knows that Philip was taught not to like black people so i think he wants to change Philips mind about that.

I think Timothy very patient with Philip because he was taught not to like black people. Plus he might know Plilip misses his father. I think Timothy understands because he might miss his family too.

I think Timothy is paitent with Philip because he knows that some white people do not like the black at the time because around that time Phillip's mother ( and of white folks thought wrong things about the black.) had tought Phillip to hate the black people.

I agree with Abby. I think Timothy is paitent with Phillip becasue Timothy knows that Phillip hates black people. He is also paitent with Phillip becasuse he knows he is missing his mother.
I think timothy is patient with philp because he was a passenger and timothy was part of the crew. plus timothy might feel like sience he resuced philp he a passenger so he has to be kind to him. and he is old.

I agree with ari!!! But I also think that timothy is very patient because he had a family that he had to leave when the ship got torpedoed and he knows that it is hard especially on a kid!!!

I think Timothy is very patient with Phillip because he knows that Phillip has never been in a situation like this and Timothy knows that Phillip is just a kid. I also think Timothy is very patient with Phillip because Timothy said that he never had any parents. So I think that Timothy is relating that to his life and how he lived at Phillip's age. I kind of agree that Timothy is being patient with Phillip because he was raised not to like black people, but I don't think Timothy knows that yet and it is not really playing a big part in the book right now.

Timothy is patient with Philip 'cause he knows that he lost his mom when the ship, ( I think it's called the hato,) got torpedoed. And he's worried about his mother and father.
